On November 7, 2020, after several days of waiting, news wire services announced that Joseph R. Biden had secured enough electoral votes to be named the 46th President of the United States. Residents of D.C. poured out into the streets in celebration, congregating at Black Lives Matter Plaza to commemorate the occasion with joy and triumph in front of the White House.
